# Buy second-hand bassinets
In a bassinet your baby sleeps close to you for the first months, often next to your bed. Because a bassinet is only used for a short time, second-hand ones are usually as good as new.
Look at the maximum age or weight and whether a fitting mattress is included. **What to check on a second-hand bassinet → **

## What to check on a second-hand bassinet
- Check that the bassinet stands firmly and the rocking function can be locked.
- Use a mattress that fits exactly, with no gaps along the edges.
- Look up the maximum age or weight in the listing or the manual; often until your baby can roll over or push up.
- For a bedside crib, check that the attachment to your bed is complete.
## Buy with confidence on BabyMarket.deals
Every payment goes through Stripe with iDEAL, and every parcel ships through a drop off point with tracking, so you always have proof of shipment. If a parcel never reaches the carrier, you get your money back automatically.
We never ask buyers to meet sellers in person, pay by bank transfer or send Tikkie payments outside the platform. Paying that way happens outside BabyMarket.deals: no iDEAL through Stripe, no tracking and no automatic refund.
## Frequently asked questions

Should I buy a new mattress for a second-hand bassinet?
That is advisable for hygiene. Measure the inside of the bassinet and choose a mattress that fits exactly.
