# Buy second-hand cots and convertible cots

A cot is the bed your baby sleeps in for the first years. A convertible cot can later be turned into a toddler or junior bed, so it lasts even longer.

Cots are solidly built and stay nice for a long time, so second-hand is a good choice. Buying a new mattress is advisable. **What to check on a second-hand cot → **

## What to check on a second-hand cot

- Measure the gap between the bars: under the European standard (EN 716) it is between 4.5 and 6.5 cm.
- Check that all screws, bolts and the base are complete and nothing wobbles.
- Look at the paint for flaking spots and teeth marks.
- Use a mattress that fits exactly, with no space along the edges.

## Buy with confidence on BabyMarket.deals

Every payment goes through Stripe with iDEAL, and every parcel ships through a drop off point with tracking, so you always have proof of shipment. If a parcel never reaches the carrier, you get your money back automatically.

We never ask buyers to meet sellers in person, pay by bank transfer or send Tikkie payments outside the platform. Paying that way happens outside BabyMarket.deals: no iDEAL through Stripe, no tracking and no automatic refund.
